Keys are around each map to unlock new areas and you can save at any time, press walk at one of our checkpoints which will be shown by text.
Checkpoints
Checkpoints are reached when you progress a lot through each map and will be saved automatically, but make sure you save upon completing each level or it won't save and you'll have to do it all over again from the saved checkpoint.
