Noctem is a psychological horror game with an element of some real life experiences. What we are trying to achieve is to give you an immersive experience beyond what you can see on your screen and for that reason we mainly invest in an atmosphere and the environment.
Noctem is set in a small, nature-filled, mostly foggy Alaskan town, a place where strange things happen daily. There are rumors about the Alaska Triangle connecting the states of Anchorage, Juneau and Barrow creating a triangle in which many people have gone missing and most have never been found. There are many theories behind this phenomenon, but no one is willing to talk about it. People disappear and most remain lost. Some say they died, others that they left... Others continue to look for them, to this day. The question is, where are they?
The game takes place in Dry Creek, which is a small town within that triangle. Amelia Hudson used to live there with her family, just before moving to England to study writing. When she was 14, her little brother, Tommy, was diagnosed with leukemia. After two years, he died. Her mother couldn't stand the pain and 8 months later she committed suicide.
Four years after the tragedy, Amelia was ready to move to England to study writing. But by the time she was there, she learned that her father died under mysterious circumstances in her home. She attended the funeral and, devastated as she was, she returned to England to continue her studies. Her graduation time was approaching and Amelia needed to complete her thesis. She decided to return home to have peace of mind and to concentrate.
However, when she arrives, she knows something is wrong. She could feel that she was not alone in the house. Someone or something was playing with her head, her thoughts, her reality. Something is happening that is beyond any human understanding. Can she escape reality?
We humans have not yet explained the complexity behind the theories of parallel universes, the only thing we can do is imagine.
